Hey, Jealousy
I love the Gin Blossoms. If I were rich, I would get them to play at my birthday part. However, if they were represented by the William Morris Agency, I would also have to know the band personally because, "Due to the amount of requests they receive, Artists cannot accept invitations to play at these types of events. If you are a personal friend of the Artist and have their information, then contact them directly to secure a performance."

However, the Gin Blossoms are mostly playing festivals, fairs and small venues these days, so I think my chances are pretty good, but I have no idea how much it would cost. Maybe $15k? If I am going to go to the trouble of booking a band for my birthday party, I might as well do it up right. My wedding cost $15k and 85 people were in attendance. I am guessing my theoretical birthday bash would host the same number of people but cost twice as much since I won't be so concerned with doing it on the cheap.
Fancy favors, good food, cool decor, and live music. Sounds like a great birthday to me. I wonder where I should register for gifts.
Liabilities:
Band = $15,000
Party = $30,000
These items = $45,000
Total = $44,674,574

I knew I liked you. I love the Gin Blossoms. However, I thought the lead singer (Robin something, right?) committed suicide. So before you sign that contract, you may want a demo to make sure they still sound how you remember them.
And that song has been in my head all day. It's not easy to 'run' with Tupac in your ears and "we could travel 'round this town...and let the cops chase us around..." in your head.
"29 you'd think I'd know better, living like a kid..." Also, you are totally invited to my party.
Sweet! I'm totally gonna go.
According to Michelle's link, it was founding member Doug Hopkins who had played guitar with the band at one time that committed suicide. And he had actually been replaced while the band was recording New Miserable Experience. So while it is very sad, you'd still hear the same band that became briefly famous.
Joanne gets an A+ in Rock History 101.
